Why eat crap food when you don't have to? Better yet, why eat healthy food that doesn't taste good? There's no need to do that eve...r again with Juli Bauer's Paleo Cookbook. New York Times bestselling author of The Paleo Kitchen and creator of the popular website PaleOMG, Juli is a well-known Paleo cook who creates meals that are sure to please the whole family. And this cookbook is her best one yet! Absolutely no one will complain when you serve them delicious dishes like Breakfast Tacos, Buffalo Chicken Casserole, Slow Cooker Short Rib Tostadas, Pistachio Rosemary Lamb Chops, and Layered Flourless Chocolate Cake. For most people, the Paleo or "caveman" diet seems unrealistic. "You expect me not to eat cake anymore?" was Juli's first reaction. (There may have been a few curse words thrown in there, too.) For Juli, that just wasn't going to work. We all understand that cavemen didn't eat cake back in the day, but we're here in the future, and we can create Paleo-friendly cakes. So Juli ventured out to put a new spin on eating like a caveman. After two weeks of eating Paleo, she knew she was in it for the long haul. She has been eating Paleo for five years now, and she consistently gives her readers Paleo recipes that bring back childhood meal memories or just bring back the foods they love the most. There's no need to be a true, pretentious caveman if you don't have to be! We see you using Instagram over there, you modern caveman, you. Paleo is about so much more than just food. To Juli, Paleo is what gave her the freedom to feel healthy, energetic, and enthusiastic about life. And that's exactly what she is trying to bring to you in this cookbook. She hopes not only to help you revamp your kitchen and excite your taste buds, but also to help you feel confident with the new lifestyle you've taken on. read more

1. Crispy Plantains With Garlic Sauce: A staple of Caribbean cuisine, plantains are delicious fried or mashed. Ripe ones look similar to bananas and can be used in sweet dishes, while green ones mash and crisp up nicely. In this recipe, green plantains are parboiled, smashed and pan-fried, so the center remains soft while the edges provide crunch. The accompanying garlic-lime dipping sauce is sinfully delicious. Get your shawarma fix satisfied without ruining your dieting efforts with this Paleo approved chicken shawarma. It isn’t cooked the way traditional shawarma is, but it is still grilled, which gives it a nice flavor, and it is using a blend of spices that will give you the taste that you’re seeking out when you’re in shawarma mode. That’s because it’s marinated, so the flavors have a chance to soak into the chicken. He’s even provided a recipe for Paleo friendly hummus, so you can dip the pieces of chicken into that, or simply eat them solo.
At some point on the Paleo diet you’re going to crave something sweet, flavorful, and crunchy, and that’s when we’d recommend baking up a batch of these clusters. They use pumpkin seeds, and we’re just finding out how healthy these are, and the benefits they provide. The sweetness comes from coconut sugar and honey, two approved sources of sweet on Paleo. We recommend going with organic raw honey to avoid the processed kind you find on store shelves. The other ingredients are all-natural, just be sure to use organic pumpkin seeds for the best results.
This stew is made from a bunch of beef, some blueberries, carrots, and an onion. It may sound like a bit of an odd mix, but trust us, it works. A stew is the perfect platform to construct a great Paleo meal, and here there’s plenty of healthy foods being combined. You’ll get plenty of protein from all of that beef, as well as important minerals like iron. Blueberries consistently make the news because of their antioxidant value, and carrots have long been known to be healthy due to the beta Carotene they contain. Onions also add to the nutritional value of this meal, and it will definitely keep you satisfied for several hours.
We're not entirely certain about the history of this classic recipe's name, but perhaps it has something to do with the spicy kick of the sauce. Our version is a shakshuka-like dish in which fiery harissa paste and heady spices slowly infused a rich tomato sauce where eggs gently poach. Look for jars of harissa with the Middle Eastern foods in your supermarket; you can substitute a half to full teaspoon of crushed red pepper in a pinch. The cook time for the eggs depends on the specific heat of your slow cooker. We offer a range of 15 to 20 minutes, so start checking at 15 minutes (or a couple minutes earlier) to ensure the eggs get done to your liking.
I had never heard of the Paleo diet before I read this book but as a Mexican Cookbook it is really good. There are the recipes you would expect to see - empanadas, enchiladas, fajitas and such plus many recipes I have never seen before. There are lots of yummy looking recipes that I will be trying out. I am especially looking forward to trying the Salted Chocolate Ganache Tarts!
Slow food, in the form of slow cooking and old-fashioned home cooking, has become really hot. Rich stews, roasts, soups, and stock...s are now simmering in many kitchens. A stew cooked slowly over low heat for several hours works wonders even with the simplest and least expensive cuts of meat. The food takes care of itself while you’re doing other things, and a few hours later it has evolved into an amazing taste experience.Slow food is perfect for the low carb high fat (LCHF) and paleo diets, which emphasize proteins and vegetables over sugar and flour. Low Carb High Fat and Paleo Slow Cooking offers sixty amazing recipes for recognizable favorites with new twists from a variety of cuisines. Dish up that Sunday roast with blueberry cream sauce, salted pork with cauliflower puree, and saffron-scented seafood stew interspersed with recipes inspired by author Birgitta Höglund’s many trips to various Mediterranean kitchens. From these regions, she presents nutritious dishes with gentle but intense flavors like lemon stuffed chicken, Turkish lamb stew, Greek stifado, meat sauce with sundried tomatoes, and pulled pork with flavor from the Cypriot cuisine. Many people simply prefer to eat simple, natural food without preservatives, and Low Carb High Fat and Paleo Slow Cooking is here to provide delicious, slow-cooked meals that are healthy for the whole family.Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Good Books and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of cookbooks, including books on juicing, grilling, baking, frying, home brewing and winemaking, slow cookers, and cast iron cooking. In many ways, the most interesting thing about this cookbook isn’t the recipes but the other information that is provided. With this cookbook, the authors strongly focus helping people to transition to the paleo diet and then stick with it in the long-term. This type of information can be particularly useful because the paleo diet is often overwhelming, especially when people first get involved.

Spiralized sweet potatoes make for a hearty pasta replacement in this fresh feeling paleo meal. Puttanesca is an ultra-savory Italian pasta dish that typically consists of capers, anchovies, olives, tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil. In this iteration, fresh tomatoes meet their salty match for a hearty, dairy-free pasta dish that's light on calories and heavy on flavor. For a vegetarian option, leave out the anchovies and use vegetable broth instead of chicken.
What sort of stuff is in the book? This book is centered around the 100+ amazing recipes I’ve developed for you. It’s got seven fueling strategies (when training falls at different times during the day), and fifty meal combinations (think of it like the beginnings of a meal plan). The macros for each recipe are provided. This book discusses performance nutrition in a limited manner, so if you’re after the detailed rationale behind why Paleo is awesome for athletes, I recommend also picking up my ebook, The Paleo Athlete.
Fill the lunchtime void with delicious Paleo lunches that will have you powering through your afternoons with no sluggishness or brain fog. Lunchtime often becomes no man’s land if you don’t have time to pack a lunch, or your lunch plans get changed unexpectedly. You might find yourself grabbing whatever’s available, which is usually pre-packaged, processed foods that will only contribute to poor health. With the Paleo Power Lunch you’ll always be equipped with the fuel you need to get through the workday in style and without feeling hungry or worn down. Take a meal that usually gets a big question mark and totally hit it out of the park each day. Fix the glitch and you’ll be set all day.
What I love the most about this cookbook is that it is different. Most paleo cookbooks tend to follow the same general patterns and styles, often resulting in dishes that are fairly similar to one another. But, that’s not the case here. Instead, the recipes take their inspiration from southern cooking and give you the chance to still enjoy those flavors and styles of meals.

These meatballs attempt to capture the taste of chicken enchiladas verde, so if you don’t feel like making up a giant pan of Paleo friendly enchiladas, you can go with this meatball recipe and get a similar results. They are able to pull it off by using a pound of ground chicken, and you want to make sure that the chicken is organic. They are using almond flour to replace breadcrumbs that you’ll usually find in meatball recipes to help hold it all together. They also have it topped with some salsa verde to complete the green enchilada mission.
Here’s another complete paleo meal in one “container.” The red bell peppers get cooked to mellow sweetness, but still hold their shape enough to keep other delicious ingredients inside. This recipe, with its peppers and tomatoes, is a great source of vitamins A and C, even after the vitamin loss that cooking causes. It’s also a good source of protein (4 ounces of lean turkey has over 20 grams).
The idea behind this cookbook is interesting. Basically, the author is relying on 15 key ingredients. With these, she offers 150 different recipes and a total of 450 variations. Now, this doesn’t mean that the book only uses 15 ingredients. Instead, those ingredients act as bases for the recipes and are expanded upon. So, you will still need some other ingredients.
As pictured, these short ribs represent a perfectly portioned Paleo meal, because you’re getting nice a serving of vegetables along with your beef. Short ribs can be tough to cook, and often take a long time roasting or grilling, but she’s broken it down so that it’s a relatively easy recipe, and it’ll come out tasting great. She’s got them rested on top of a portabella mushroom cap, and served up with a side of broccoli, so this is not only a beefy meal, it’s also vegetable centric. Try these off the bone short ribs, and you’ll be hooked.

This cookbook isn't just a book of recipes. It is a culinary journey. Written by Lauren Lobley, a former sugar addict and pastry c...hef turned healthy chef and health coach, The Accidental Paleo takes a carnivore's approach to plant based eating. By being mindful of textures, layers of flavor, colors and nutrition in every concoction, the recipes in this book are designed to satisfy every palate, whether they prefer their meals with or without meat. The desserts are refined sugar free (and in most cases, naturally sweetened, like the almond butter banana cheesecake), the appetizers trick the palate with their clever use of cashews and coconut milk to feign a creamy texture (like the warm spinach and artichoke dip - to die for), and the main meals carefully build upon an array of vegetables and sauces to leave everyone full and satiated (like the butternut squash lasagna). The Accidental Paleo is culinary fun for the whole family. A feast for the eyes and the taste buds, get ready to fall in love with plant-based eating like you never imagined you would.Inside The Accidental Paleo Cookbook:• 85 easy-to-follow, meat-free, grain-free, hassle-free vegetarian paleo recipes with a carnivore’s approach to plant based eating• Nutrient-dense, colorful dishes that leave you feeling full (even without the meat)• Recipes that the whole family will enjoy - even the littlest of the bunch (Lauren’s 2 year old daughter devours the lentil dal and the veggie curry...and basically everything else)• Creative use of nuts and other food pantry staples you never knew could be used to pack in so much flavor and texture (like the cashews in the warm spinach artichoke dip and the sundried tomatoes in the collard green wraps)• Guilt-free desserts that will have you wondering if they are truly paleo and sugar-free, and that moms can feel good about giving to their little ones because there is no refined sugar (like the chocolate banana pudding or the almond butter banana cashew cheesecake)• Many make-ahead meals that make it easy for the working person or busy parent to be able to heat up dinner in a pinch on a school night (like the chickpea soup with pesto or the veggie chili) read more

When it comes to eating paleo, trainer, nutritional consultant and author of Paleoista Nell Stephenson knows that breakfast is one... of the most challenging meals. It's the most important meal of the day, but why do so many of us have it all wrong? Skipping breakfast to save calories or because we don't have enough time does nothing other than increase our chances of making poor meal choices. And when trying to eat paleo, it can be struggle to move away from old standards like cereal or oatmeal and still eat something easy to prepare but filling and healthy. So what does a good paleo breakfast consist of? The same thing any other meal does-vegetables, protein and fat, like soft-boiled eggs over spinach with some avocado and a side of berries, or even a five-minute well-balanced smoothie. By starting the morning off the right way, you'll set yourself up for sustained energy and focus day after day.POCKET PALEO: BREAKFAST includes- 50 recipes, like sun-dried tomato and basil Sonoma omelets, bacon and melon roll ups, breakfast Carpaccio and Mexican fajitas- Building paleo breakfast basics- Tips for adventurous eating, kid-friendly modifications, eating on-the-run and more read more
If you thought pulled pork sliders were off the menu, you were wrong. You just have to find creative workarounds when you are making Paleo recipes. In this case they’ve replaced hamburger buns with sliced sweet potato, which gets the wheat out. They haven’t skimped on the pulled pork which is going to taste just like you’d expect it to if you ordered a pulled pork sandwich from a barbecue joint. Creativity is one of the main and factors when you are eating Paleo because nothing is really off limits, you just have to figure out how you can have it.

Slow cookers are amazing tools for any person and any kitchen. I love the fact that you can put it in and go back hours later without having to do much of anything in between! The great thing about this cookbook is that it's simple and gets straight to the point. With only 40 recipes in the book, you won't get overwhelmed by an overload of possibilities and ideas. Instead, you can focus on what really matters: the food!

You’ll be happy to learn that you can have Thai curry on the Paleo diet, as long as you follow a recipe that’s been adjusted accordingly. This may not follow the traditional recipe exactly, but all of the distinct flavors are there, thanks to the use of full-fat coconut milk. They’ve used plenty of chicken, and have included an assortment of vegetables like zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, and asparagus. There’s even kale thrown in for even more nutrients. Really as long as you’ve got the curry paste and the coconut milk you’re well on your way to a successful replication.
It’s natural to want crunchy foods, but on Paleo you won’t want to subject yourself to many of the crunchy options out there. In this recipe they are coating a snapper fillet with sesame seeds, so you will get the delicate texture of the fish juxtaposed with the crunchy sesame seeds, all fried up in grass fed butter. The frying makes sure that the sesame seeds have a nice toasted flavor, and they point out that if you don’t have grass fed butter you can also use ghee or bacon fat to fry the fish in. This fish goes great with any number of vegetables as a side, and we like to recommend broccoli as a healthy option.
These chicken thighs have been given quite the treatment, first stuffed, and then wrapped up in prosciutto. They are stuffed with things like artichokes, olives, and spinach, all of which are Paleo goodies, and then wrapped up in slices of prosciutto which not only adds flavor but also serves the purpose of keeping everything held together. The advantage to a meal like this is that it contains everything you need for a complete Paleo meal, so you can focus your attention on just making this.
Shepherd’s pie is a popular dish in the UK, but not so much in the States. It’s a shame because it’s very delicious, but it is also made with a lot of ingredients that aren’t necessarily Paleo if it’s made the traditional way. This recipe makes plenty of adjustments so that a Paleo eater can enjoy comforting food. For starters they’ve gotten rid of white potatoes that play such a big role, and replace them with sweet potatoes which are a recommended Paleo food because they are loaded with antioxidants and fiber. The other ingredients all fall well within your Paleo guidelines, so you can eat until satisfied.

With Paleo it is important to use the proper amount of spices and seasonings so that you don’t get tired of just eating meat and vegetables all the time. In this recipe they have an interesting mix of spices, and use plenty of lime so you’ll get a citrusy, spicy flavor. It starts off with chicken thighs and breasts, and then coats it all in olive oil so the spices will stick to the meat better. They’re using coriander, cumin, garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and sea salt so this is definitely not lacking in the flavor department.
